Sustainability Workshop - Mechanical Engineering Intern at Autodesk

Worked with the Sustainability Education team to develop high quality assets for the Sustainability Workshop, (http://sustainabilityworkshop.autodesk.com/).
Primary goal of the Sustainability Workshop is to teach the principles and practice of sustainability in engineering and design.
My work:
⢠Assisted in technical aspects of the video script and drawing development
⢠Assisted in creation of new educational videos
⢠Delivered 3D animations of various engineering scenarios (heat transfer, fluid flow and friction) using Autodesk Inventor, Simulation and CFDesign
⢠Designed a visual scene to describe viscosity based upon prior lab experience
⢠Developed a guide and workflow for using CFD simulation software tools to optimize design.
⢠Interviewed Autodesk Cleantech partners, drafting a case study on the Urbee (Urbee.net)
⢠Wrote a tutorial for Eco Materials Adviser, an Inventor add-in

Environmental Department Mission:
⢠Represent the students to UB Administration
⢠Create a culture change of sustainability within the student body
⢠Advance the UB Climate Action Plan (CAP) to become carbon neutral by 2030.
As Director:
⢠Competed in RecycleMania, a national recycling competition between colleges. Within the first month, our team helped increased the entire UB campusâs percentage of recycled waste to trash from 15.66% to 38.93% through increased marketing and planning.
⢠Developed and implemented a strategic marketing plan for each semester
⢠Managed a team of 16 students to implement department mission to the 28,000 students at UB.
⢠Planned major events for the entire school to raise awareness for the need and importance of sustainability.
⢠Worked with UBâs Environmental Stewardship Committee (ESC) a coalition of administration, staff and faculty created by the UB President in order for UB to reach its goal for climate neutrality by 2030.

Smart Grid Intern at American Municipal Power, Inc.

American Municipal Power, Inc. (AMP) is a wholesale public power provider to over 128 communities. Main goal of internship was to look at emerging smart grid technologies and their potential impact at AMP.
My work:
⢠Developed Advanced Metering Infrastructure business cases for member communities
⢠Learned technical aspects of the electric grid and the current energy market
⢠Presented research and internship results to the AMP Board of Directors
